Job Description:
Job Description Corewell Health William Beaumont University
Hospital is seeking a full time BE/BC Palliative Care. The
inpatient Corewell Health Palliative Care team is seeking a
compassionate Physician to join them splitting their time equally
between providing consults to adult patients who present to the
Emergency Department and providing Palliative Care to patients in
the inpatient setting. Corewell Health emergency departments
experience high volumes of patients with serious illnesses who
require complex symptom management and end-of-life care discussions
often leading to prolonged ED stays, suboptimal patient
experiences, undesired and inappropriate hospital admissions, high
cost of care, reduced patient and provider satisfaction and overall
reduced quality of care. As a Hospice & Palliative Care physician
who partners with the ED you will work with our interdisciplinary
team by approaching patients to provide health literacy, ascertain
goals and then collaborate to find an appropriate disposition. The
ED embedded Palliative Care team can manage symptoms, facilitate
goals-of-care discussions, and coordinate with other healthcare
providers to improve patient outcomes, reduce hospital admissions,
and enhance overall patient and family and provider satisfaction.
In this role, you will also spend time providing consultative care
to inpatients. This will be a continuation of foundation
established in the ED as well as new patients not previously seen.
You will be working collaboratively with other interdisciplinary
members including physicians, APP’s, a social worker and a
chaplain. Qualities needed for this role are compassion,
flexibility, and a true desire to help your patients. Opportunity
Highlights: - Functions in the role of Palliative Care Physician to
coordinate comprehensive care delivery for patients in the ED and
inpatient setting, with opportunity for future outpatient
involvement. - Ensures that operations are in compliance with
professional standards, applicable laws, accreditation,
compliance/regulatory requirements and that organizational goals
are being followed. Practices in accordance with the Michigan
Public Health Code. - Delivers care in a manner that is culturally
sensitive and preserves patient autonomy, dignity and rights. Acts
as a patient advocate, crossing multidisciplinary lines to meet
patient needs - Communicates, collaborates, networks with and acts
as a consultant to other members of the health care team within and
outside Corewell Health. Acts as a consult in area of expertise. -
