Job Description:
Job DescriptionScope:Responsible for preparation/distribution of
nutritious meals for the Early Childhood Services programs - Head
Start and Early Head Start. Essential Functions
- Follow all local and state food safety and sanitation
guidelines.
- Obtain necessary head counts to help prepare and distribute
food effectively.
- Complete inventory and food orders in a timely manner.
- Keep classrooms and kitchen stocked with materials needed for
food preparation. Distribute and collect used materials for
cleaning, sanitation and restocking in a timely manner.
- Prepare food using standardize recipes. in a timely manner to
facilitate family style meal service.
- Work with CHDS Specialist – Nutrition, Food Aide, and Classroom
staff to ensure the nutritional needs of all children with food
allergies or preferences.
- Take part in menu planning and Allergy Health Care plan
meetings.
- Keep kitchen clean and well maintained and notify appropriate
staff of any needed repairs.
- Execute other specific tasks as assigned: some of which are
continuing while others are occasional in nature.
- Maintain a positive attitude towards assigned work, clients,
and staff, and a willingness to work with others.
- Perform work in a professional manner that upholds Wayne
Metro's policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements and Work
EnvironmentFood Service Operator: The physical demands described
here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to
successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This job
operates in a kitchen environment, housed with equipment such as an
oven, stove, dishwasher, slicer, and chef's knives. The employee is
frequently exposed to heat, steam, fire and noise. The employee is
occasionally required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel,
stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 50 pounds or less. The
position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and
the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma/general education degree (GED) OR a minimum
of two years of experience in a related field OR a combination of
education and experience that is similarly equivalent.
- Current food handler's card and physical/TB test.
- Ability to communicate effectively with, staff and other
adults.
- Willingness to assist with the preparation/distribution of
breakfast, lunch and snack.
- Ability to participate in menu planning, CHDS team meetings and
all staff meetings and trainings.
- Good interpersonal and professional skills including but not
limited to professional appearance, tact, punctuality, and
dependability.
- Ability to work with a minimum of supervision. Minimum
Competencies:
- Working knowledge of basic internet applications and programs
including Google technology and Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
The ability to learn and utilize the necessary programs for this
position.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written
form.
- Good interpersonal and professional skills including but not
limited to professional appearance, tact, punctuality, and
dependability.
- Ability to provide services for those persons facing economic,
social, health, age, and educational barriers.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment (as
deemed necessary).
- Perform work in a manner that upholds Wayne Metro policies and
procedures. Licensing and Other Requirements:
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Travel
Requirements:
- Ability to travel to various sites. Work Hours: Work to be
scheduled Monday through Friday with specific hours to be
