Job Description Job Description Primary Job Title: Specimen Technician Alternate / Related Job Titles: Specimen Processing Technician Laboratory Specimen Technician Clinical Laboratory Support Technician Specimen Handling Associate Location & Onsite Flexibility: Cleveland, OH Onsite Contract Details Position Type: Contract Contract Duration: ~12 weeks Start: As Soon As Possible Pay Rate: $17.20 – $23.00 per hour Shift: Second shift | 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM Work Week: Wednesday – Sunday Job Description The Specimen Technician I (SPT I) is responsible for general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department. This role requires a strong data entry background and the ability to perform multiple laboratory support tasks with accuracy and efficiency. Functions may include A-station processing, presort, pickup and delivery of processed specimens to the laboratory, imaging/microfilming, centrifugation, and aliquoting. This position is complex and detail-oriented , requiring strong organizational skills and the ability to learn and understand specimen types related to client-ordered tests. The SPT I must learn and comply with test-ordering compliance regulations that may change daily. Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as the role supports changing customer demands and operational needs. The department operates in a production environment with an emphasis on productivity, quality standards, and departmental completion times. The role involves working in a biohazard environment , practicing good safety habits, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. The SPT I must communicate effectively with all levels of staff, adhere to safety and compliance policies, and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills that foster a positive work environment. Most SPT I roles support the night/second shift , with required availability for weekends, holidays, on-call assignments, and overtime based on staffing needs.
