Southeast Michigan Community Alliance (SEMCA) is recruiting talented professionals who want to contribute and make a difference in our southeast Michigan community!! SEMCA is a Michigan Works! Agency providing workforce development programs to residents in Wayne and Monroe counties, excluding the city of Detroit. SEMCA offers a competitive package to full-time employees who are eligible for benefits on the first day of hire including 12 annual holidays, 30 days accrued paid time off per year, and 6% employer match to 403(b) retirement plan! SEMCA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and employees with student loan debt are eligible to apply for public service loan forgiveness (PSLF). SEMCA also promotes work life balance by providing full-time administrative staff a hybrid work schedule. Employees are permitted to work remotely three days per week and only required to perform duties in the Taylor administrative office two days a week.

Annual Wage Range: $41,600 - $52,000



Job Summary

Under the direction of the Workforce Program Manager, the Workforce Development Coordinator is responsible for coordination and assistance with Workforce Development services to internal and external partners. This position is responsible for providing assistance to staff and employers with navigating program parameters such as accessing services, coordinating resources, and assisting with monitoring the performance of contractors and programs.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Develop and maintain working knowledge of all relevant federal, state, and local legislation and policies
  • Assist in the development, dissemination, and implementation of policies and procedures for SEMCA contractors and support services staff members
  • Serve as administrator for the maintenance of SEMCA policy issuances, including maintaining a policy issuance tracker
  • Respond to requests from the State of Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO), as needed
  • Support Program Manager's oversight of contractor performance relative to required performance as outlined in applicable contracts
  • Monitor achievement of performance outcomes by SEMCA providers individually and for the combined SEMCA region
  • Coordinate with Program Managers to establish and implement reporting standards
  • Participate in program planning and implementation as requested
  • Serve as program point of contact for contractors and support service staff members and act as agency technical resource in assigned program area(s)
  • Compile and develop management reports
  • Assist Program Managers and workforce team with new grants and special projects
  • Monitor and manage a portfolio of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) programs and other programs to ensure contractor compliance of policies and procedures, and successful completion of targeted outcomes and fiscal requirements
  • Provide administrative support training front line staff on ARPA policies and procedures (training materials, webinars, tool kits, etc.) as needed
  • Act as a liaison for Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, which includes submitting help desk tickets
  • Assist with data collection, analysis of internal and external reports, and long-range planning
  • Comprehension of ARPA policies relevant to assigned program portfolio
  • Assist with grant-writing and securing of additional funding of assigned programs
  • Meet project goals by following production processes, meeting performance and quality standards, resolving operational problems, and identifying work process improvements
  • Regularly communicate with team members to ensure optimal strategy and maximum efficiency
  • Support building a strong team by cultivating relationships
  • Perform other duties as assigned




    Physical Demands

    Duties require sufficient mobility to work in a normal office setting and use standard office equipment including a computer, vision to read printed materials on an LCD screen and smartphone, hearing and speech sufficient to communicate in person and over the telephone.     All SEMCA team members are expected to be technically competent and committed to continuous development of their skills. The following skills, knowledge and education or certifications are specifically required for this position:


    • Minimum Bachelor's degree
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
    • Demonstrated understanding of project management concepts
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to effectively prioritize and handle information in a professional and confidential manner
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software programs

      • Knowledge of the SEMCA regional business community
