Uses knowledge of accounting and power plant operation to review and approve cost information submitted to ERCOT in a variety of data formats.Willing to train the right candidate. Ideal candidate will have experience in power plant operations or ability to proactively gain knowledge of electric generation including: power plant operation, plant maintenance and controls, for both traditional and new plant technologies, as well as concepts related to fuel delivery and pricing, fuel consumption and heat rate calculations. Nature of the position requires the analyst to work independently and be able to meet deadlines with limited supervision. Applicants without specific knowledge of electric generating plants will be required to have a background in engineering, physics, math, finance, accounting, or related field.Position DescriptionAnalyzes O&M costs, heat rates and other operational parameters for generating resources.Clearly communicates complex technical concepts both in a written and oral manner.Utilizes and develops tools to perform calculations for the analysis of Verifiable Costs.Conducts independent research to gain knowledge of innovations of power generation technologies, regulatory issues and other related topics that impact the industry.Evaluates power plant fuel consumption and costs, including reviewing fuel transportation and storage contracts.Develops and maintains a strong level of understanding of the ERCOT competitive energy markets.Identifies detailed solutions and improvements to procedures and software to improve accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness.Resolves client questions, disputes, and data errors in the operations of settlement computations.Regularly updates management of system issues through formal status reports as well as informally via e-mails, voice message and regular team interaction.Develops strong working relationships with the key staff members of the Settlement Team and promotes similar relationships with staff members of other ERCOT departments.Develops working knowledge of market and power systems and the understanding of the data elements passed from these systems to the settlement system.Assists with projects, as necessary, to implement ERCOT's Commercial Operation Systems including future enhancements.QUALIFICATIONSEducationBachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Business administration, or related fieldor a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is requiredPreferred Work ExperienceComfortable working with excel including, complex formulas, pivot tables and graphs.Comfort interpreting and manipulating algebraic equations.Experience with, or aptitude for, SQL, Visual Basic and SAS.Industry experience relating to power plant operational and cost parameters preferred.Settlement Analyst 1No Minimum experience (in excess of degree requirements stated above) of progressively responsible experience in electric utility industrySettlements Analyst 2:Minimum of 2 years (in excess of degree requirements stated above) of progressively responsible experience in electric utility industrySenior Settlement Analyst:Minimum of 5 years (in excess of degree requirements stated above) of progressively responsible experience in electric utility industryPosition is open to a Level 1, Level 2 or Senior Settlements Analyst depending on the candidate's experience.WORK LOCATION:There are requirements in this role that will be required to be performed on-site. It is estimated that your business area will require this position to be on-site in Taylor, TX at least (2) days per week. Circumstances and business needs may require you to be on-site more often. On-site requirements are at the discretion of Management.Remote work schedules shall be performed within Texas.
