Position Description:
We are looking for an Electrical Substation Engineer to join our ICE Team to improve infrastructure in our Taylor office. The candidate must have a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, and 5 or more years of experience with high voltages substation design. Experience with Bentley Microstation, AutoCAD, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), and SAP/Maximo is preferred. Some travel will be required for this role. A Professional Engineering License is preferred. The candidate must also be self-motivated, work well with others, and have excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills. A flexible hybrid-remote work schedule available after 90 days of employment.
Typical responsibilities include:

• Prepare one-lines, connection diagrams, panel elevations and protection & control schematics for power substation equipment
• Prepare auxiliary power equipment sizing calculations
• Design wiring diagrams for protective relaying panels
• Perform complex engineering calculations/studies related to substation projects such as: lightning protection, conduit fill, AC/DC station service loading, surge arrester sizing and voltage drop
• Create RTU control, status and analog point lists, raceway/cable schedules along with maintenance/signage and nameplates
• Perform high voltage substation design, including physical design, protective relaying/control with an emphasis on continuous improvement
• Provides guidance and direction on design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes
• Assists in developing, maintaining, and updating engineering standards
• Provides technical guidance to others regarding projects and disciplines
• Perform quality reviews of project deliverables
• Attend and/or conduct client and project meetings
• Maintain excellent client relations
• Promote sales
• Review scope, budget, and schedule for project tasks
• Assist with proposals, marketing, project reports and technical presentations

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering requiredSkills/Experience:
    • 5 or more years of experience with high voltage substation design is required
    • Knowledge of utility standards, NESC, and an understanding of construction techniques is required
    • Exposure to Bentley Microstation, AutoCAD, utility Geographical Information Systems (GIS), SAP/Maximo is preferred
    • Professional Engineering License is preferred
