Job Description Description Seeking an Advanced Practice
Provider to join the ICU team at UH Elyria Medical Center. The
schedule is 12 hr. shifts rotating days, nights (eligible for night
shift incentive program), weekends and holidays. APP experience is
preferred and will consider new grads for the New Grad APP Training
Program. A Brief Overview The Advanced Practice Provider is
responsible for providing quality care for patients and increasing
patient access and satisfaction. Standard tasks to be performed by
an Advanced Practice Provider as specified by the Ohio State Board
of Medicine or Nursing and UH entity specific Medical Bylaws. What
You Will Do - Partners with Attending to provide 24/7/365 medical
and surgical management for critical-care service. - Critical-care
duties include managing the comprehensive care of acutely and
chronically critically ill or injured adult patients in
collaboration with the intensivist physician on duty. - Advanced
skills of comprehensive airway management including endotracheal
intubations using direct laryngoscopy and video assisted
laryngoscopy, surgical airway management including open surgical
cricothyrotomy. - Partners with Attending and Respiratory Therapist
to manage ventilator, non-invasive positive pressure ventilation,
and high-flow modalities. - Invasive procedures to include central
lines, peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC lines),
mid-lines, arterial lines, tube thoracostomy, dialysis catheters,
cooling catheters, and various urinary catheters as indicated. -
Selection, implementation, management, and titration of vasoactive
drugs, insulin infusions, sedation, and analgesia. - Responds to
all full trauma activations in ED, intracranial hemorrhages and
aortic syndromes that are being transferred to a higher level of
care in the ED. - The above listed critical-care duties require
that this position must be certified as an acute care nurse
practitioner (ACNP) Additional Responsibilities - Performs other
duties as assigned. - Complies with all policies and standards. -
For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation
provided by the department during orientation. - Must abide by all
requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health
Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of
Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address
appropriate use of PHI in the workplace. Qualifications Education -
Master's Degree from an accredited PA educational program
(Required) - (MSN) Master's Degree in Nursing (Required) Work
Experience - 1 years as an Advanced Practice Provider (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities - Demonstrated leadership skills.
(Required proficiency) - Demonstrated skills in interpersonal
relationships. (Required proficiency) - Computer skills to access
patient medical data from UHHS mainframe. (Required proficiency) -
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook. (Required
proficiency) Licenses and Certifications Physician Assistant: -
Physician Assistant (PA) (Required) and - Basic Life Support (BLS)
(Required) and - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (Preferred) -
Passed the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination
(Required) and - Practice with a supervising physician (Required
Upon Hire) and - Maintain national PA Certification (Required)
Nurse Practitioner: - Registered Nurse (RN), Ohio and/or Multi
State Compact License (Required) - Nurse Practitioner (NP)
(Required) - Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) (Required) -
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (Required) - Current APRN
